Plus, they’re better for your pocket. Once you’ve installed an EV charger you only pay for the electricity you use to charge. The typical electricity rate in the UK is just over 34p per kWh, while on Economy 7 tariffs the typical overnight electricity rate is 17p per kWh. A typical EV takes around 6 hours to charge which means home charging could cost you as little as £5 per session – over a 50% saving vs public charging (not to mention the savings vs petrol).
